Review Calling Proposals

Approve or deny calling proposals as a Stake Presidency or High Council member from the Review page.

The Review page (/leader/callings/review) is where Stake Presidency and High Council members cast approval votes on calling proposals. Viewing requires the VIEW_CALLING_PROPOSALS permission; voting additionally requires holding a qualifying calling.

Release proposals do not appear on this page. They skip approval stages and enter the Kanban board at the Interview stage.

What Appears Here

The Review page contains two independent sections:

  • Stake Presidency Review — proposals currently in the SP Approval stage (stage 0)
  • High Council Review — proposals currently in the HC Approval stage (stage 1)

Each section renders a table with columns: Name, Calling/Assignment, Ward, Approvals, and Date Submitted.

Release proposals do not appear on this page. Releases skip both approval stages and enter the pipeline at the Interview stage, so they are managed directly on the Manage (Kanban) board.

Rows where you have already submitted a vote are visually dimmed, and the Approvals column shows a Voted badge in place of the approval count.

Opening a Proposal

Click any row to open the proposal dialog. The dialog contains two tabs.

Details tab

Shows three information cards:

  • Candidate — member's first name, last name, and spouse name (if provided), and their ward
  • Recommendation — the proposed calling, the proposal type (New Calling or Release), and the submission date
  • Review Status — the current approval stage, a live count of approvals and denials from eligible reviewers, and your voting access (Can vote / Voting only / Already voted)

If you do not hold the calling required to vote at the current stage, a notice in the Review Status card explains that you are viewing the proposal in read-only mode.

Votes tab

Shows every eligible reviewer for the current stage with their vote status:

StatusMeaning
Approved (green badge)This reviewer submitted an approval
Denied (red badge)This reviewer submitted a denial
Pending (outline badge)This reviewer has not yet voted

The tab header badge shows the total number of votes submitted so far.

Who Can Vote

Voting rights are determined by your portal calling assignment, not by your permission level alone.

StageEligible voters
Stake Presidency ReviewUsers assigned to the Stake President, Stake First Counselor, or Stake Second Counselor calling
High Council ReviewUsers assigned to the High Councilor calling

If you have the VIEW_CALLING_PROPOSALS permission but do not hold one of the above callings for the stage you are viewing, the Approve and Deny buttons will not appear and the dialog will note that you are viewing only.

Approving or Denying a Proposal

When you are an eligible voter and have not yet voted on a proposal, the dialog footer shows two buttons:

  • Deny — records your vote as a denial
  • Approve — records your vote as an approval

Click the appropriate button. The dialog closes, the board data refreshes, and a toast notification confirms your action.

Votes are final in the UI. Once you submit either Approve or Deny, both buttons are disabled for that proposal and cannot be changed from this page. If a vote was submitted in error, contact your clerk or system administrator.

The Approval Threshold

Each approval stage has a configurable threshold. When the number of approvals for a proposal reaches the threshold, the system automatically advances the proposal to the next stage.

StageThreshold environment variableDefault
SP ApprovalSP_APPROVAL_THRESHOLD2
HC ApprovalHC_APPROVAL_THRESHOLD3

When a proposal auto-advances, it disappears from its current section on this page and appears in the next column on the Manage board.

Thresholds are configured by your system administrator in the backend environment variables. Contact your clerk if you are unsure what values are currently set.
